FRIENDSGIVING 2020!!

Hi Tribe!!

I decided in this epic year of 2020, that I will no longer be “celebrating” Thanksgiving in the traditional sense of the word. But, what I will keep CELEBRATING is GRATEFULNESS, LOVE, FAMILY and FRIENDS!

So get ready because this is just the beginning of some serious gushing over some of my FAVORITE WOMEN highlighting their talents, achievements and the inspiration they are constantly giving me which makes me so lucky + THANKFUL to be fortunate to call them “friends”!

…and in this case…“Sis”!

So, without further adieu, I’d like you to officially meet my bestie,

SOUL-CENTERED BUSINESS COACH EXTRAORDINAIRE and all around incredible woman,

JENNIFER COVINGTON!

Jen and I met in Los Angeles 2006 at Tyra Banks’ (yes, that Tyra Banks) camp for underprivileged teen youth called TZONE. We were require along with the campers to create our own unique “camp names”. These “camp names” would be the only names we could use while there. Jenn chose “Princess” and I chose “Sunkiss”.

Now, my name made sense because I was always told that freckles, which I have many, were kisses from the sun but Jenn as a Princess at first didn’t make sense because she was so sweet, humble, approachable and all about teamwork and community. Not words that usually first come to mind when describing royalty.

But then, it started to make sense the more I got to know her. The type of Princess she was was similar to a Disney Princess, full of light, love, song(for reals tho’), hopes for a brighter future and with her whole heart believing in the infinite possibilities that came in the form of dreams that she knew one day turn into a reality. That, and our love of a mean cheese + cracker platter, vision boards, the classic film “Troop Beverly Hills” and our exquisite ability to do “bougie” the right way when staying in hotels, I knew we were gonna be lifelong friends!

All that being said, it has been my pleasure to watch Princess grow into an absolutely fabulous woman from serving in the Peace Corp in Ecuador to building an amazing soul-centered business coaching company in which her only mission is to make sure other women are empowered, uplifted and have a plan to live out their dreams!

She has also managed to marry the love of her life. And, as a couple, they host “community dinners” monthly (before COVID that is) to bring their many different circle of friends + family together so, you guessed it, we can broaden our own community circles with other incredible and diverse people as well!

Now that’s just cool!

So it’s no wonder I get SO inspired by her! So inspired in fact that as a stylist + bestie, I can’t help but send random “care” packages in the mail of pieces that remind me of her! These packages can include but are not limited to: clothing, candles, self care goodies, things that make you go “Oooo”…well, you get the idea. I wanted to share the love of gift giving during this time so I created a “GIVE LIST” inspired by my “Sis”!

Oh yeah, and “Sis”, is just another name we affectionately call each other. Because, come on, once you’ve officially hit “Bestie” status it means you have been chosen…as straight up family now which leads to “Virtual Lady Dates” where coloring, doing our nails and drinkin’ bubbly are the TOP PRIORITY!
